I... Have... The Power!!!

About the title, anyone who is my age (30ish) or older probably knows where this title comes from.  If you're one of the younger crowd, or if you didn't watch cartoons during the 80's, I give you one word... He-Man.

Now I will explain why I'm having animated flashbacks (though it happens more than I c...

Yop!

I feel a certain kinship to those Whos down in Whoville, when they banged, and they clanged, and with all their might cried, "We are here! We are here! We are here!" Only to find it was not enough.  Their world would collapse and all would be lost. Then one little boy, with one little word, made them exist to the world from without.

"YOP!"

I did all I could with my first novel, my vision, my work, my b...

Seriously?!?! You really liked it?!?!

So, GREAT NEWS!!! Omific Publishing has agreed to publish my first novel.  So I'm updating for the first time in almost a year.  Going back to work full time has been....well a challenge.  And like most challenges, it has its ups and downs.  Not having much time for writing was certainly a down.  But, now that someone is actually paying me to write, I have a good excuse.  I'm ...

Help Yourself....

So, I've decided my first novel my not make it to the rack anytime soon.  Apparently the market has been flooded with vampire books.  Go figure.  Fortunately, I have many other ideas to write about.  Unfortunately, I have much less time than I once did, as I am going back to work full time this fall. (Boo for real life and the economy)  Also, I have to finish the trilogy I started before I write something else. (Or my loving family...

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday.  I had lots of fun being back home with the family.  I got absolutely no writing done, but hey, I was on vacation!  I did hand out a few copies of my first book to the family.  So far both of Hubby's parents and my oldest brother have given it a thumbs up.  Actually, they're all waiting for the next book.  Which is very encouraging.  None of those three would probably pick up a book like this on ...

What the H*** and Halleluiah

This post is in two parts.  Let's start with 'What the H***'.  Those of you who are fellow writers know what I mean when sometimes the characters take over.  Often they get so well developed that we have no choice but to follow what they lead, so long as they are headed in the right general direction.  I generally let my characters do what they want, so long as they loosely foll... The Waaaaaiting is the Hardest Part

Sooo, first off, props to Tom Petty for the Title Track of this blog.  Totally 80's, 'nough said.

Next I would like to talk about the actual waiting part of sending out Query letters.  Two days ago I was spouting off to Hubby about how even a 'no' would be better than nothing.  At least then I would know.  "No news is good news?"  My eye.

But that was two days ago.  Today I got my third and forth rejections letters, one via email and one via snail mail...

The Query Wars Begin,,,,

Posted on October 30, 2008 at 10:00 PM Comments comments (6)
I got my first rejection letter today.  Well, it was actually an email, but same same.  I sent out ten queries and I'm actually surprised I heard back so soon.  No worries, said agent wasn't my favorite pick, so it gets chalked up as a casualty of war... it happens.  Wow, that sounded cold, I was speaking metaphorically, of course, I don't really feel that way about actual wars...
ANYWAY, while I wait for responses from the other nine agents, I am moving on and have outlin...
